You Are What You Eat
Description
Be part of the Human Nutrition department for a week by being both the “research scientist” and “study participant”. Have you heard of GI or Glycaemic Index? You will test the glycaemic index of white bread or chocolate and have your blood sugar levels measured to see which of these foods has a lower GI. On another day, you will measure the fat content of a typical evening meal of an athlete or university student. Later in the week you will be asked to eat an ‘unhealthy’ breakfast and a ‘healthy’ breakfast and have the levels of fat and cholesterol measured in your blood.
