Welcome to Hands-On Science

The letters are in the mail!

We had over 520 applications for the 240 places available so we have had to make some very hard decisions.  All the applications have merit, and we are astonished at your achievements!

Thank you for the hard work you did in preparing your applications; it has been a very difficult process selecting fewer than half of the applicants to come to Hands-On Science 2015.  So congratulations if you succeeded, and please try again if you are eligible next year.

Please let us know as soon as possible if you are unable to attend HoS 2015 as there is a long waiting list…

FREESTA funding not available for 2015

We are sorry but we have to announce that the Freemasons Charity are withdrawing their funding for Hands-On Science 2015.  We encourage you to contact your local Rotary or Lions clubs, schools, iwi organisations or hapu for funding.

The goal of Hands-On Science is to demonstrate, in a friendly and interactive environment, some of the activities that scientists are involved in and to encourage talented young New Zealanders to consider science as a career. We do this by bringing students to New Zealand’s oldest and most attractive university, an institution having an international reputation for excellence in scientific research and teaching.

The dates for Hands-On Science 2015 are 11 – 16 January 2015. Registration fee is $650.
